During the World War II and the D-Day, the Cotentin was severely damaged and the hens also suffered the consequences. Thanks to some local people who saved some hens, the race is still present in our region. Since the 50’s, several enthusiastic amateurs try to keep alive the breed.

On this hen characteristics side, its feather is black with some metallic green reflects, a little like a beetle. This breed is well adapted to its region because it supports the humid and windy climate.
